Tloma Lodge

Tloma Lodge is a beautiful African safari retreat set in delightful grounds opposite the eastern escarpment of the Ngorongoro Crater.

A superb, hanging waterfall cascades 150 meters down the forested slope of the highlands area, which is a jewel in itself, clean, neat and well-designed amid restful gardens overlooking a large coffee farm bordering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) in this part of northern Tanzania.

Built on the pattern of an old colonial farm, 36 cottages offer generous African vacation accommodation, four of them with interconnected rooms, providing twin, double, and triple sleeping arrangements.

All have en-suite bathrooms with showers, large, comfortable beds with mosquito netting drapes, stylized, original wall-hangings depicting native plants and birds and sliding glass doors to private verandahs with views of the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Each suite has a fireplace to cheer up cool evenings in the montane forest climate and contains a telephone with limited landline access. Although tap water is safe to drink, a supply of bottled water is provided is available.

The Highlands

The Highlands is in scenic Ngorongoro Crater is easily accessible from this tented safari camp. Its location guarantees maximum privacy, an unforgettable adventure and various activities which are not possible elsewhere in Ngorongoro.

The lodge is on the edge of the mountain forest bordering the Olmoti volcano to the north of Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater.

When staying in this remote region of Tanzania, guests experience the highlands of the untamed Ngorongoro Conservation Area surrounding the camp which is home to elephants, lions, leopards and buffaloes.

Accommodation at The Highlands is provided in luxurious tents which offer the ideal balance of a comfortable wilderness escape. The eight uniquely domed suites are elegant providing king-sized beds.

Sanctuary Crater Camp

Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area – situated in the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley, close to the access road into the crater, giving guests unrivaled access to the crater floor.

Ngorongoro is home to a large assortment of animals including zebra, buffalo, warthog, wildebeest, hippo and elephants; and an amazing population of predators – lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.

This charming camp consists of only ten tents. Each tent is furnished with a large comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom with safari-style shower and toilet.

The dining tent is very atmospheric and has a lounge area with comfortable chairs and sofas. The restaurant serves excellent meals.

Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge

Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge and Children’s Home offers guests the unique opportunity to effect direct change in the community of Karatu. The lodge offers an outdoor pool and restaurant, and free WiFi. Guests can interact with the orphans from the nearby village of Rhotia, where their support provides orphans with housing.

Guest accommodation will provide you with a balcony and a patio. Private bathroom also comes with a shower. You can enjoy mountain view from the room. Extras include bed linen.

At Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge you will find a garden, a terrace and a bar. Other facilities offered at the property include luggage storage and a children’s playground. The property offers free parking.

Rhino Lodge

Ideally located on the edge of the Ngorongoro crater rim, Rhino Lodge offers a perfect base from which to explore the Ngorongoro crater and its surroundings.

This simple lodge is run by Italians in collaboration with the Maasai community.

If you don’t necessarily want a view over the crater, this is the perfect place.

Plantation Lodge

Plantation Lodge is situated just outside the town of Kiratu in Northern Tanzania, on the lower slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater. It offers a peaceful haven among the vastness of the remote Northern Tanzania.

Ngorongoro Farm House

Ngorongoro Farmhouse is set on a 500-acre coffee farm, giving you the freedom to relax in the quiet beauty of the area. Take in the amazing views of Oldeani Volcano as you walk through the coffee plantation.

The lodge is divided into two separate areas, each with its own communal lounge and bar areas creating a feeling of spaciousness. It’s designed as an old colonial farm and each room has been decorated using rustic local materials.

Ngorongoro Farm House is the perfect stop-over between safaris as it’s located just 4km from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. There is also a fantastic opportunity to visit the Hazabe and Datoga tribes in the lake Eyasi region.

Relax by the sparkling swimming pool overlooking the Oldeani Volcano, or cycle around the plantation. On colder evenings, snuggle up in the lounge with a book in front of a crackling fire.

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is located in Tanzania on the edge of the world famous “World Heritage Site” of the Ngorongoro Crater. Surrounding the lodge, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area spans 8,300 square kilometres, stretching from the Rift Valley to the Serengeti.

Mysigio Camp

Tucked away from the main tourist trails in the Ngorongoro Highlands lies Mysigio, set in a magnificent location in the heart of Masai country amid ancient forests and stunning views.

A mere 20-minute drive from the Crater Rim allows us to get down into the crater for an early game drive.

The camp is seasonal, so we have the opportunity to make it more comfortable than a mobile camp. The tents are large, each with a roomy en suite bathroom offering twin basins, eco-friendly, low-water toilet, and bucket shower.

Dining is in a uniquely designed mess tent that can be closed up during the cool evenings or opened up for an al fresco feel for breakfast and lunch.

Lemala Tented Camp

Lemala Ngorongoro is intimately set in a delightful ancient acacia forest close to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. As it is located next to the quiet Lemala crater access road on the eastern side, a key advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the quick and easy drive down on to the crater floor in the morning.

Lemala Ngorongoro Tented Camp has 9 spacious tents that are positioned carefully to provide privacy and with minimal impact on the pristine forest environment.

They accommodate two queen-size beds, and as it can get cool on the Ngorongoro Crater rim at night, little luxuries like warm winter-weight duvets, hot water bottles and gas heaters ensure a cosy night’s sleep.

The roomy en-suite bathrooms contain a dressing area, flush toilet and a large safari-style shower.
