    DAY 1: DAR ES SALAAM

    DAY 2: DAR ES SALAAM—RUAHA

    After an early breakfast, we transfer to Dar Es Salaam domestic airport for our charter to Ruaha National Park. Ruaha can be visited any time of the year and still be exciting, however for best game viewing is from June until December when wildlife converges on the dwindling water of the seasonal river right in front of this gloriously isolated camp. This itinerary utilizes game packages, so you will partake in the scheduled game drives and activities.

    DAY 3: RUAHA

    Whilst being the largest National Park in Tanzania, Ruaha also holds a special significance as it covers a unique transition zone where the Eastern and Southern biomes intersect offering an extraordinary diversity of animals, plants and birds. There are upwards of 560 species of birds; half of all Tanzania’s birds may be glimpsed in this park making it one of the continents premier birding destinations. The road network around camp was primarily developed by our knowledgeable guides and therefore perfectly placed for superlative game drives, with the blood-pumping thrills of tracking animals and the reverential calm of learning about this incredible environment. With only four seats in the majority of our 4WD open sided vehicles, privacy is easily delivered Open vehicle scheduled morning and afternoon game driving with a return to the lodge for hot lunch and resting during the middle of the day.

    JONGOMERO (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

    DAY 4: RUAHA—SELOUS

    After breakfast, transfer to the nearest airstrip for the flight to Selous Game Reserve. Enter Africa’s largest protected area uninhabited by man, where Tanzania’s greatest population of elephants wander in an area bigger than Switzerland! The Selous (pronounced “Seloo”) is considered important enough to be World Heritage Site, in which the lucky few can experience a safari in absolutely wild and unspoiled bush. Siwandu is sheltered in a grove of palms on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, part of the watery byways of the Rufiji River system, Siwandu is perfectly situated to fully experience the breathtaking landscape and abundant wild-life of Selous Game Reserve. Game package scheduled activities (optional walking and boat safari for an additional charge).
    SIWANDU (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

    DAY 5: SELOUS

    Selous Game Reserve is best visited during the months of June through to February. Selous is named after Frederick Courtney Selous and is home to one-third of Tanzania’s elephants and two-thirds of Tanzania’s wild dog population. The Rufiji River showcases hippo and croc. The Selous is bird lover’s paradise. Broadly spaced along the lakeshore, Siwandu’s superbly appointed accommodation ensures maximum privacy and every opportunity to soak up the sights and sounds of Selous. From either of the wooden decked verandas sit with a cup of tea at sunrise watching the bush come to life, or relax with a gin and tonic as the bush blushes under sunset. Game package scheduled activities including walk and boat safari.

    DAY 6: SELOUS

    All game drives are taking in open sided 4WD vehicles accompanied by our expert driver guides around the Reserve. Our game drives are a shared experience with fellow guests (although private vehicle can also be arranged for a supplement).

    DAY 7: SELOUS—DAR ES SALAAM

    After breakfast, transfer to your nearest airstrip for the short flight back to Dar es Salaam. A day room can be arranged for evening departures (or even an extension to stay a few more hours in the Selous!). Transfer to your departing international or domestic flight.

    DAY 5: SELOUS

    Selous Game Reserve is best visited during the months of June through to February. Selous is named after Frederick Courtney Selous and is home to one-third of Tanzania’s elephants and two-thirds of Tanzania’s wild dog population.The Rufiji River showcases hippo and croc. The Selous is bird lover’s paradise. The camp itself was built by local craftsmen to specifically to compliment the river bank. Each tent is built under a thatched roof and is ensuited. Game package scheduled activities including walk and boat safari.

    All game drives are taking in open vehicles with a sun shade roof, there are 360 degree views from your seat. Guides at Rufiji River Camp are locally trained an experts in sharing our Selous. Game package scheduled activities including walking and boat safari.
